It is Official!!

Nate has proposed to Reagan and she said yes!

He asked her in front of us (I knew it was coming...he talked to us last night and told us his plan). Here are two pictures that I took.

And Reagan took these of the ring. It is beautiful.

Another One Scheduled

Zambia. Well, I knew that I needed to go to prepare things for our students next summer, but I wasn't sure if our new budget could handle it. I got work on Monday and found out that enough money was budgeted and then I started thinking. Sara needs to go because she is the clinic director and she needs to see all the clinical possibilities. The Zambian culture in the region we will visiting is very male oriented, so Dan would be a great asset on the trip. I made an executive decision and decided we could pull some out of our reserve funds and now all three of us are going on June 23.

The decision was made Tuesday morning. We bought tickets 30 minutes later. Now, two days later, we have begun the series of shots that we have to have in order to go, we have ordered out guidebooks, and have our hotel room for the overnight stay in Johannesburg. There are still thousands of things to take care of before we go but I think we can get them all done in time. Crazy times!

Home for the Day

Since I am not officially on the timeclock for intersession, I am staying at home today. I am taking the advice of Tammie's physician and doing nothing for the day.

I did turn on Oprah and they are showing the best of American's Funniest Videos. They are so much funnier than any TV show or movie. The ones they are showing are not the ones where it looks like someone is getting hurt, but the funny things kids and animals do. I am laughing out loud here in the room by myself. Why are they so funny?

And lastly, there is a sign on the MacLab in the Reynolds Building that posts the hours for the next two weeks. The sign reads "Intercession Hours." I think that might be a priest inside.

If I Could Turn Back Time

Jeff Montgomery reminded me think morning at church that I have been away from this blog for a long time. I have been occupied. And if I could have a "do-over" I would never, ever, ever try to teach, direct a department and start up a graduate program at the same time.

I am totally convinced that my classes suffered greatly this past semester. I felt disorganized and distracted everytime I walked into a classroom. I am having a very hard time not being overtly bitter that so many other faculty members did NOT have to teach while they are preparing for a graduate program. So, if I could turn back time, I would not have tried to teach two classes during the past semester.

Now, as for this weather...I am starting to feel like Vivian did when we were in college. I am not going to leave my bed for those tornado sirens. There have been too many of them lately.
But more importantly, I NEED to have some good weather so that I can ride with the top down.

And lastly, I hope that all my family and friends had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mine was very, very nice.
