Homecoming Week 2007

This week is preparation for the Homecoming activities. The musical this weekend is the Wizard of Oz and that also ends up being the theme for Homecoming. I am paying tribute to the theme by purchasing and wearing these all week.

They are slightly small but are great fun to wear. Beckie will be clicking her heels all week long!

Little Rock Race for the Cure

Yesterday was a big day in Little Rock. Over 45,300 people walked or ran the streets to help find a cure for breast cancer. Mother and I went for the third time since she had treatment for breast cancer. She loves attending and participating in all the survivor events.

It is always an emotional occasion. I find it impossible to watch the survivor parade and not have tears in my eyes. All those pink shirts, pink pompoms and this year pink boas are very moving.

I finally decided that the survivors are like a club or sorority that one never wants to be a part of but if you have to join it then you love the club. My prayer for each of you is that you never have to join this club.

Middle of the Week

Tonight I attended a "tea party" that is actually a little bit like a tupperware thing but with waaaaaay better snacks. My friend, Carla (biological sister to my "might as well be a daughter cause she and Reagan act like sisters," Rena) is starting her own company and sells everything you need to put together a really great "tea." Carla has lived in England on several different occasions and is really quite smart about the chemical properties of tea. She has an "importer" who custom blends her teas and so she gets to name them. She also sells all kinds of scone mixes, jams, clotted cream, and even flavored sugars. The teas are great and I bought one for Reagan called Pomegranate Black and one for me named Bliss. Carla will either come and do a party for you or you can just order from her. The catalog will be out either tomorrow or by the end of the week. I was very impressed and even told her that she can have a party at my house. I did have to say that we have to wait until I actually put the door and window moldings back up in the dining room!

If you know Dan and Keri and are not reading his blog about their semester in London, you should start doing that right now www.an-arch.blogspot.com

And lastly, I am currently in an insomnia phase and I am very tired of it (no pun intented). I need sleep.

Seven Things Tag

Hmmm...didn't I do this last year?

1. I love computer games. Mostly, card games or puzzle games. I have this silly game Jewel Quest that I can't stop playing.

2. I LOVE my car. It is starting to have some structural issues and I am going to be desolate if it all falls apart!

3. Traveling is the most fun thing I can think of to do. I am totally addicted and I love it when family and friends get to go with me. I am grieving that I am not going to London in November but looking forward to the spring and the trip to Asia (even though I rarely sleep on airplanes!)

4. I know that Diet Coke contains many ingredients that are very bad for human health, but I need to drink one (or more) everyday.

5. I have the sweetest group of undergrad students in the world! And the faculty is unblievably fun to be with.

6. I do NOT like to deal with repair persons. They make me nervous. I feel like an idiot around them.

7. Sometimes I think that "they" (whoever they are) will find out that I am not what they think I am. I am not nearly as smart and capable as they think I am, but I am way funner and funnier than they think I am. I can make myself laugh at the silly things I think!

I am not sure that seven people are reading this that Reag did not already tag. So, if you are reading this and she did not already tag you, then consider yourself tagged.

Hot Springs

I am leaving for Hot Springs today and will be there until Friday. This is the Arkansas Speech-Language-Hearing Association annual meeting. For the first time I am going to sit on a panel with the four graduate programs in our state and talk to students about coming to Harding. HU is playing with the big boys now.
